One of the newest locomotives at the museum, the EMD RS1325 was a prototype road switcher that had 2 control stands for bi-direction operation. There were only 2 examples of this type of engine. The other one has been preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL.
This engine loaded pretty quick in notch 1, so the skilled engineer had to power brake each time we started moving to avoid rough slack.
This was our cab ride from downtown Monticello back to the museum grounds.
