Welder:
TCB – Thermo-compression bonder – used with thermocompression, micro electrodes
Attachment:
TCB hand piece, included with cost of TCB.
Electrodes:
1. Customer provided a thermocompression electrode
2. MEL-TCB-SY, precision thermocompression electrode
Settings:
The electrode provided by the customer: 20% pulse length, 1.3v energy. Sunstone’s MEL-TCB-SY: 26% pulse length, 1.6v energy.
Trials/Results:
The TCB system, with the included hand piece, is a perfect, economical system to perform these welds. Welds are quickly performed, with great results. With the customer’s electrode, welds are done with 20% pulse length and voltage at 1.3. With Sunstone’s MEL-TCB-SY precision tip, we did welds at 26% length, and 1.6v energy. See the video of the welding process, along with these pictures.
Outcome/Conclusion:
The TCB is a great, affordable solution for these welds. The welds are easily, and quickly performed with this equipment. Set up is simple, and new users will be up and welding in minutes. The pressure, which is applied by the user’s hands needs to be fairly consitent, to avoiding “pushing” through piece during the weld. Only light pressure is needed. Welding settings can be fine tuned when the end user has the equipment, to find even better results.
