Mayotte is a small territory of 376 km2 located between the African continent and Madagascar, at the northern entrance of the Mozambique Channel. A French department since 2011, the island faces numerous challenges in several sectors, hindering its economic and social development. In the health sector, the department faces a significant lack of infrastructure and qualified personnel. In 2016, with the help of the European Regional Development Fund, we provided significant funding to support the construction of Petite-Terre hospital. In the education sector, the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the digital divide that exists among the population of Mauritius. To address this problem, we are supporting the Rectorat de Mayotte in the implementation of various projects aimed at providing computer equipment to some thirty secondary schools.
