In today's video I am finally planting the last of the spring 2022 bulbs. I am planting 300 botanical crocus all around the edge of my fan shaped lawn in the gap between the edge of the lawn and the low euonymus hedge that surrounds it. I see this area of the garden every day from my sitting room window and I feel that in late winter and early spring a bright pop of colour is just what I need to brighten up those grey cold days. I am using 2 tools to get the job done - my Hori-Hori knife - probably one of the most useful tools in my garden shed, I use it to plant, slice chop and measure. The other tool is my 3" PowerPlanter auger (PowerPlanter 312). I bought a 2" one a couple of years ago but it was not an original PowerPlanter and there is just no comparison between the two. Between the 2 tools I dug (auger) and sliced roots (Hori-Hori) 100 holes and I would hate to think how long I would have been there without them. Remember when planting crocus or other early flowering bulbs that you don't have to be so careful with sun/shade because they usually flower before the deciduous trees start to leaf out so they can be planted in what normally would be a shady area later on in the season. I am definitely looking forward to spring to see all of the bulbs I planted today.
