In August, I traveled to Skagway, Alaska to ride the White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad. We opted to take the trip behind the steam engine for the best experience. However when we got there, they were not running their 2-8-2 #73 but the smaller 2-8-0 #69. The reason for this was prior to our arrival the #73 blew a piston. This kept it from running for the rest of the season. The #69 doesn't run nearly as much as the #73, so we got quite a special treat. This is part one of the series with more to come. In this part you will see #69 traveling to the depot and leaving on it's journey as well as the Diesel trains coming and going out of Skagway.
