When planning fiber reinforcement in parts printed with Markforged CFF 3D Printers, it can be challenging to determine how much fiber you need to place in your part, and where it should be located. This is especially true in complex parts with complex load cases, such as the Tail Wheel Arm that we helped design and print for an SZD-45 Ogar powered glider.
However, using SOLIDWORKS Topology Optimization, we can get a better idea of how our fiber reinforcement scheme should look. While it is far from a perfect solution to analyzing these parts and planning fiber layouts, it certainly helped us design and reinforce this part much more efficiently!
