I love to hike, so of course we had to climb the Pichincha volcano! We did take a shortcut, though: there’s a funicular (cable car) running partway up the mountain that saved us a couple hours of walking. A good thing too, since the lack of oxygen in such high elevation (4780 meters / 15,696 ft) occasionally had me struggling for air. The view at the top is totally worth the effort! I even got to do a bucket list item: ride the cloud swing out over the city!
