I got a text from my renter last night letting me know there was a yellow jacket nest on the soffit of the front porch.
In the past I’ve used different hornet sprays and found that some of them discolored my shingles and siding; so, I thought I’d try this new trend where you put gasoline in a jar and hold it under the nest.
The fumes from the gasoline cause the yellow jackets to fall into the jar.
I was concerned with the holes in the soffit that the fumes might not get to them, but it actually worked really well.
Once they fell into the jar, I just slid it sideways- knocking off the nest.
