This week on the vlog I'm sharing my latest makes, a tailored shirt pattern McCalls 8014. After lots of quick, easy makes during lockdown I finally felt like I had the brain power and motivation to get my teeth into a more meaty dressmaking project again. I decided to go all out and sew a stand up collar, cuff plackets, the works. I also really enjoyed the process and focused on a professional, neat finish using the burrito method to machine stitch the internal and external yokes, sewing French seams, even at the armholes, and working hard to achieve neat top stitching.
I made a toile in calico to check the fit before starting on my chosen dressmaking fabric and made a few fit adjustments, which I'll talk you through.
I absolutely love the spotty fabric, which washes and wears beautifully.
I would definitely recommend this pattern for a satisfying sew and stretching those sewing muscles!
