In The year 1873 The first horse-drawn tram ran in India. The route was from Sealdah to Armenian Ferry Ghat via Bowbazar Street, Dalhousie Square and Strand Road.
From 1902 electric tram service was started by the Govt and gradually entire Calcutta was connected with tramlines.
This rare footage was filmed in the year 1906 by a French production for their travel documentary in British India.
