The East Coast National Scenic Area Headquarters of Tourism Administration, MOTC (hereinafter the ECNSAH) was honored as one of the "2023 Green Destinations Top 100 Stories" by the Green Destinations Foundation for its "Moonlight Sea Concerts on the East Coast of Taiwan - Sustainability in Action."
In 2015, to promote art tourism, the ECNSAH initiated the East Coast Land Arts Festival, blending local culture, life, and nature. Embracing the core principles of "leisure philosophy, sightseeing gaze, and land aesthetics," the festival advocates for the harmony of art and nature. In its second year, music elements were integrated, leading to the creation of the Moonlight Sea Concerts at the Torik Visitor Center, which have become a regional highlight. These concerts, set against the East Coast's unique moonlit seascape, feature diverse music and art performances, an art market, and exhibitions, showcasing the region's rich culture and simple lifestyle.
Last year, the ECNSAH joined the Green Destinations evaluation program to showcase its efforts in sustainable tourism. The award-winning story highlights not the scale of the concerts, but the commitment to waste reduction, environmental protection, respect for local culture, and land balance during the event. This achievement underscores the ongoing dedication of partners, vendors, and over 20,000 annual participants of the Moonlight Sea Concerts who strive for a sustainable lifestyle.
