This video was filmed in Seattle at Antique Cycle Northwest in 1996. Indian Jeff and Norm Gerlich talking about the history of very early 1910-1919 motorcycles. The model shown here is a 1915 "The Flying Merkel, Two Speed".
If you have seen the Going Places: Biking the Black Hills special Jeff and a few of his friends were featured in, only about a minute or two of this footage was used. This is what was left out. It was only a 1 hour show and over 60 hours of video was filmed. They couldn't use it all!
Just some of the "behind the scenes" of the Going Places special we will be uploading here as time permits.
About 15 minutes long with Jeff and Norm doing a nice job discussing the 1915 Flying Merkel shown. Along with facts and comments concerning the restoration and riding of very early "Teens" Antique motorcycles.
When riding around on the old junk, Jeff would occasionally be "Told", that belongs in a museum! His favorite reply: Why? What crime did it commit? Why should something designed to be used, ridden etc. be locked in Jail?
You can't put a price on fun, or...Time travel!
