George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer accused of second-degree murder against Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, has been released on bail after posting 10 percent of his $150,000 bond.

He left Seminole County Jail in Sanford, Fla. around midnight, wearing what looked to be a bulletproof vest underneath his jacket. Zimmerman will be tracked electronically via GPS and must check in with authorities every three days according to the terms of his release. He must also surrender his passport, observe a strict 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew, and cannot use a firearm.

During a court appearance last week, he surprised Martin's parents by offering an apology, which their attorney called poorly timed and insincere. While he awaits trial, Zimmerman will also be responsible for his own security, and it's believed he will leave Florida to stay at a secret location.
