👻 Hi everyone! Today, I’m thrilled to share the process behind creating this Halloween-inspired art journal page. I had a lot of fun incorporating moody, gothic elements, and I hope you’ll enjoy watching this mixed media process as much as I enjoyed making it!
💀 For this spread, I chose a dark and haunting theme to match the Halloween season. I began with a base layer of purple ink to create an eerie, atmospheric background. Purple is such a fitting color for Halloween, and it sets a mysterious, gothic tone that ties the whole page together.
🎃 I used girl PET tapes as the focal points. These hauntingly beautiful portraits of women add a ghostly, vintage charm, giving life to the page with their expressive, melancholic faces. The PET tape images are framed by memo frames and layered to create depth, almost as if the figures are emerging from the shadows.
👻 To add texture and reinforce the theme, I included flower washi tapes with deep, muted tones. These floral elements add an elegant touch, balancing the darker aspects with a hint of softness. I also used sentiments PET tapes with phrases like “One of a Kind” and “Memories,” which feel nostalgic and almost like whispers from the past, enhancing the page’s vintage Halloween feel.
💀 In terms of materials, I combined PET tapes, washi tapes, and ink stamping techniques to bring out different textures and create a cohesive design. The mix of vintage portraits, distressed textures, and floral elements brings an eerie beauty to this Halloween theme, and I love how it all came together to evoke that dark, enchanting vibe.
