The Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs is on on a week-long oversight visit to the Northern Cape to assess the state of service delivery in Sol Plaatjie and Phokwane local municipalities.
The committee will engage with the Provincial Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, the Provincial Treasury, the Auditor-General, the South African Local Government Association, the national Department of Cooperative Governance and national and provincial Houses of Traditional Leaders.
Meanwhile, the Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration will also conduct oversight visits to the Northern Cape today to assess the status of the service delivery improvement plans, the status of the Thusong Service Centres, disciplinary cases, status of filling of the heads of departments posts and report on payment of suppliers within 30 days and monitoring of the frontline service in the province.
