A Missouri grand jury has decided not to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the Aug. 9 fatal shooting of Michael Brown. The decision incited demonstrations in the street as crowds reacted angrily to the news.

According to details of an investigation into the case, Officer Darren Wilson was driving a police SUV when he encountered Michael Brown and his friend on Canfield Drive on August 9, telling the pair to move off the street and onto a sidewalk.

Wilson had continued driving before he determined Brown could be a suspect in a shoplifting case that was reported earlier in the day. Sometime later a struggle took place between Wilson and Brown through the window of the car. Wilson’s gun was fired twice during the struggle, with one bullet grazing Brown's right hand near the thumb. One bullet was later found lodged in the door arm rest.

Wilson later exited the vehicle and pursued Brown on foot. Wilson discharged his weapon again, firing ten shots, with six shots striking Brown in the front, killing him. Browns body ended up 153 feet east of the police vehicle, with some of his blood 25 feet east of his body. An autopsy also showed that Brown sustained a wound to the right leg.

Brown’s body was reportedly left in the street for hours after the shooting.

Blood and DNA was later found inside the driver’s door, outside the driver’s door, and outside the rear door of the police vehicle.
