WhiskyJason reviews Kanosuke Japanese Single Malt 2022 Limited Edition matured in Ex-Shochu Oak Casks and Sherry Casks

Kanosuke 2022 Limited Edition was distilled from unpeated barley malt in all three stills between 2017 and 2019, and bottled at cask strength in 2022. Kanosuke's 2022 Limited Edition single malt has a high proportion of sherry casks.

Kanosuke Distillery is located on Fukiagehama, one of Japan's longest sandy beaches. In the southwest of the country, where the East China Sea meets Japan, the climatic conditions for whisky are ideal: mild summers and wild, windy winters ensure that the distillates mature quickly. They are stored primarily in American Oak casks, which were first filled with the parent company's celebrated "Mellowed Kozuru" Shochu.

In 2017, Kanosuke began operations - with three instead of two stills. The pot stills each differ in the shape of the neck and the angle of the lyne arm.
