Draper Fret saw / scroll saw, model no. 89334 bought it from ebay after i sold a bottle woodburner.
Started off with a few simple cuts on a piece of laminate and that went fairly well, moved onto a piece of 3/4 inch european oak to cut the cat...ok... much harder to work, some serious practice is going to be needed to get the best out of this machine for this type of stock timber. Very hard and tight grained, the sharper the turn on the cut the harder it is, the tail didnt come out right and required some on the spot free forming to follow a new line.
However a great machine, minimal assemby out of the box although a little filling on the arms needed for the tabs that hold the safety shield, unless i got that the wrong way round ha ha. It did a fairly good job on the cat, blade change is easy enough for threading through and if you break one. Dust blower is a great touch in keeping the work area clear of dust although its easy to knock it out of the way with your hands.
Practice is going to be the key to getting good results out of the scroll saw much like anything else involving power tools and working with your hands.
This video and the work where made with my long time partner for life Jan, whom i love very much, she is very kind to put up with me and my bullshit, im not the most normal of people....she's great, my muse, my darling, my love x
