Early morning success! Putting meat in the freezer with one of the greatest cartridges ever produced, the 7mm Mauser!
My wife and I came upon the fella as we approached the area we'd been hunting the previous few days. The weather had been pretty uncooperative but this was a beautiful morning, the kind where you can just feel success as you're on your way to the woods! This fella was quartering towards us at about 65-70 yards and one shot put him down where he stood. The 145 grain Winchester Power Point plowed through his upper shoulder, decimated his lungs, then exited the opposite ribcage with a nearly fist sized hole. Nothing else you can ask for from bullet performance.
The 7X57 Mauser, 130+ years old and still a fantastic cartridge for ethical taking all but the biggest and baddest game animals worldwide. As a matter of fact, its even taken many of those.
