Oxalic Acid can be 95% effective in killing Varroa mites. This morning I gave my bees the Second of 4 treatments of Oxalic Acid using a vaporizing wand. Mites tend to peak in population about the time the colony begins to reduce theirs as winter starts and Oxalic Acid helps clean up the mites in preparation for a long winter.

Changes in USDA regulations allow for the use of Oxalic Acid even when honey supers are on the hive so long as the product used has the EPA-approved label stating the change. One such product is Api-Bioxal Oxalic Acid sold by Mannlake Bee and Ag Supply.
