One of our most MEMORABLE adventures since we started this channel! Starting in the world’s HIGHEST capital city, La Paz, Bolivia. Here we check out the famous WITCHES MARKETS, cemeteries full of beautiful murals and least expected watch the CHOLITAS female indigenous WRESTLERS in the ring.
We explore to the birthplace of the Incan Empire as we spend 2 days hiking Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun) on the world’s highest navigable lake, LAKE TITICACA. Here we stay overnight in a remote village and visit Incan Ruins where in absolute tranquility I pop “THE BIG QUESTION” to Miranda! 💍
This is a journey we will never forget, we invite you to join us in this experience!

Introduction 0:00
La Paz 1:37
We arrive early in La Paz, after checking in to our hotel we head to the Mercado Rodriguez (produce markets) and sample some of the local beverages followed by the witches markets Mercado de Los Brujas. After lunch we undertake a city tour with Red Caps walking tours, starting at the General public Cemetery, which is filled with beautiful murals, before taking a cable car to the neighbouring city of El Alto.
El Alto 8:03
We take one of the city’s famous Austrian built Cable Cars to the world’s highest city, El Alto which sits at just over 4,000m asl. In Elto Alto we learn about indigenous spiritual beliefs in the real “witches market”. Afterwards we experience the unexpected where we see the petit indigenous ladies in their traditional dresses, known as Cholitas battle it out in the ring at the Cholitas Wrestling.
La Paz 16:18
On our final day in La Paz, we do a little souvenir shopping at the Witches Market and experience some of the best cuisine in South America at a unique restaurant where everything is made of Quinoa. We meet up with some friends from our Altiplano/Uyuni trip and have farewell dinner/drinks.
Lake Titicaca/Isla del Sol 20:07
We head north to the world’s highest navigable lake and the largest in South America, Lake Titicaca. From here we board a ferry to Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun), which is said to be the birthplace of the Inca Empire. We climb the famous Inca Steps to the town of Yumani and hike via the northern coast to the opposite end of the island. We are joined by a furry friend along the way and experience beautiful agricultural settlements and quaint villages on the way. Staying overnight in the remote village of Challapampa.
Isla del Sol/Lake Titicaca 32:47
We awaken the following morning and hike to the upper reaches of the island. Here we take in phenomenal vistas and visit the actual legendary birthplace of the Inca Empire at the Puma Rock. Nearby we enter a labyrinth of Incan Ruins called Chinkana, in this tranquility overlooking the lake I ask Miranda to “Marry Me”.
Our hike back could not have been more perfect (even in the heat) as we stop for lunch at a beautiful Villa in the town of Yumani. A Bus cancellation due to unrest from the town of Copacabana leaves us with the question of whether or not we will enter into Peru?
