New Wave Films are delighted to present the warm-hearted and humorous Polish film TRICKS (SZTUCZKI) by Andrzej Jakimowski, released in cinemas on 4 September 2009. The film has won awards at more than 20 festivals and was selected as the Polish Oscar entry for 2008. TRICKS is a coming of age story about Stefek, a smart young boy living in a small Polish town, with his Mother and seventeen year old sister Elka. His father lives in another town, with a new woman. Stefek spends most of his time with his sister and her car mechanic fiancé Jerzy, as Elka teaches him about how to create the world around him, from her lessons learned at motivational courses. One day Stefek notices a man similar to his father at the railway station. He watches the man as he changes trains when leaving for work every day. How can he make him stay longer, and lead him to the store where his mother works? Stefek designs a meticulous plan and tries to carry it out
