The Slow Low Efficiency Dialysis (SLED) is a modified dialysis method in which the dialysis efficiency is reduced. It is less stressful to the heart and the body system. Because of its low efficiency, it is usually carried out daily.
It can be used in acute kidney injury patients when the conditions are unstable. There is no need to use special dialysis machines. It is now increasing used to treat acute kidney injury patients.
