And now we move to Id's next game, Quake 2, and get a look at the first expansion pack for it. Again, we're seeing some new enemies, and new weapons and items right away. Because, again, this game was designed to be modded. And modded it was! But that's another discussion.
What's baffling me though is how much more fun I'm having with this one than the previous one. And I say that's baffling because, looking at the design of the game, a lot of the flaws, a lot of the nagging problems I had with Quake 1 weren't really fixed when we moved to Quake 2. The shotgun is still rather impotent. There's still enemies that do basically unavoidable damage. It's not quite the same slaughterfest that Doom was. So... why do I like this game so much better? Is it just the feel of the engine, the way it moves? Is it simply nostalgia? I'll have to try to look deeper tomorrow. -- Watch live at [ Ссылка ]
