The 125th anniversary celebrations of Damodar Saptah, Vàsco commenced with the traditional ceremony of placing a shreefal (coconut) at the feet of Lord Damodar in the temple. The customary rituals were performed by the Joshi family signaling the beginning of the annual celebration. Thousands throng to the old town to pay their respects to Lord Damodar. Saptah means ‘7 days’ and festivities carry on for a week. Devotees travel from near and far to visit the temple and then visit the fair at Swatantra path, where a number of stalls are put up by vendors. The fair lasts for at least 15 days.
