In 2019, seven-year-old Ollie was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, after coming to CHEO with a lump on his neck. He immediately started his treatment protocol, but it was not without complications. For the past two years, Ollie has suffered from multiple relapses and infections that caused him to lose his sight. When doctors at CHEO recommended a stem cell transplant to give Ollie the best chance at survival, his older sister Abby didn’t hesitate and volunteered to be his donor.

This cancer journey will be a marathon. Ollie will need to be monitored by many different departments within CHEO for the rest of his childhood. He visits the hospital every two weeks for checkups, participates in online physiotherapy sessions and continues to take medication. Despite his tough battle, Ollie remains a very vibrant boy who doesn’t let anything stop him. He has returned to online school and is learning Braille in addition to other subjects.
