Scoot Trip Report flying from Berlin to Athens onboard one of the Fly Scoot Boeing 787 Dreamliner on a very cold autumn morning.
What a mess are the majority of the German airports at the moment... it is just ridiculous, unacceptable. After the amazing experience I had in Dusseldorf a couple of months ago (3h queue for check-in) in Berlin I had 2 hours queue for the security control. Why? Because there were just 4 belts for all the thousands of passengers that use the airport every day. I'm sorry, but I'm done with the German airports. Not coming again for at least 1 year.
What can I say about the flight itself? OMG! This was my first time with Scoot and I'm really not looking forward to flying with them again in the near future.
Scoot is an Asiatic low-cost airline specialized in low-cost long-haul routes. They operate this Berlin-Athens flight as part of the aircraft rotation Singapore-Athens-Berlin-Athens-Singapore. By a 5th freedom of the air, they are allowed to carry passengers also between Berlin and Athens (not continuing to Singapore).
You know perfectly that I hate criticizing airlines, but mate, this Boeing 787 was, for sure, the worst I have ever seen in my life (I'm talking about the cabin, of course). It looks extremely cheap and particularly ugly. It doesn't look like a cabin where you would like to stay for a long time. It's difficult to find the correct words to describe it... let's say it's not a welcoming one... However, if what you are looking for is a cheap way of traveling long-haul, and that's your only priority, then yes, this is the perfect airline for you.
