We're excited to see where this journey takes us. We hope you’ll come along with us on a #OneWayTicket
Union Square (Piața Unirii)
This is the oldest square in Timisoara. It has St. George's Cathedral, the Art Museum of Timisoara, and the Brück House (Palatul Brück). The Brück House is a great example of Art Nouveau.
Liberty Square
The next square we visited was Liberty Square. It is home to the Old Town Hall. Right by Liberty Square is Umbrella Street. Umbrella Street was one of our favorite places in Timisoara. You can't help but smile walking down a street with colorful umbrellas.
Victory Square (Piața Victoriei)
The last square we visited was Victory Square. This square is the central square in Timisoara. On one end there is the National Theater and Opera and on the other end there is the Metropolitan Cathedral. On our way to the Cathedral, we stopped off for gelato at Gelato di Bruno. The Metropolitan Cathedral is a Romanian Orthodox church. Both the inside and outside are beautiful. Cathedral Park is a park that surrounds the cathedral. We walked through it on our way to get on the Bega River ferry.
Bega River Ferry
The city of Timisoara has boats that go up and down the Bega River. For only 1 RON you can take a trip down the river. We took the ferry to Roses Park.
Roses Park
This park is right along the Bega River. When we visited, there weren't many roses. It is probably best to visit in spring.
Miorita
After a busy day of sightseeing, we went to Miorita for dinner. Miorita is a traditional Romanian restaurant. We got sarmale with polenta. Sarmale is considered the Romanian national dish. It is cabbage leaves stuffed with meat and rice.
Timisoreana Beer
On another day we visited Timisoreana Beer. This restaurant is next to the brewery and serves great beer and delicious food. We tried the local beer and a Romanian sampler platter.
We hope you've enjoyed our Timisoara City Guide.
