A recent report from The National Interest reveals that Italy is set to enhance its defense capabilities by acquiring an additional 25 F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter jets, along with 24 new Eurofighter aircraft. The new F-35 order includes 15 F-35A variants and 10 F-35B variants, with the F-35B being distributed between the Italian Navy and Air Force.

This move will increase Italy's total F-35 fleet to 115 aircraft, making the country one of the largest operators of the F-35. Alongside this acquisition, Italy is raising its overall military spending by nearly 17%, reaching $10.3 billion.
