A pair of Kalij Pheasant, Lophura leucomelanos, feeding at the Lung Sin waterhole, near Kaeng Krachan National Park: birding in Thailand. For visitors to hides and waterholes around Kaeng Krachan National Park some of the most exciting bird sightings are of galliformes; pheasants, partridges and similar birds. Kalij Pheasant is a frequent bird to see at these stakeouts and often confuses people as older field guides treat this subspecies (crawfurdii) as a subspecies of Silver Pheasant. Newer field guides, relying on more up to date genetic analysis treat this as a subspecies of Kalij Pheasant however. Kalij is sometimes spelled as Khaleej Pheasant.
