What's the best type of fasting according to science?
Well, it turns out that time-restricted feeding, where you're following a window, every single day, of eating. For example, a popular one is 8 hours of eating 16 hours of fasting.
According to science, the optimal eating window is six to 10 hours. Why do we consider it to be the best one? Because when we look at longer-term studies, the most sustainable type of things are the ones that are a habit that you do every single day, and TRF follows that.
The other thing that's really cool about TRF. I said when you follow this type of fasting, your ghrelin hormones do not go up.
In the other types of fasting, like alternate-day or 'five and two', you tend to get really hungry, and it's almost like a punishment. With time-restricted, you get used to it, and your ghrelin, which is your appetite stimulate hormone, doesn't go up, so you're able to make this a sustainable long-term habit.
