Kia Connect with Navigation and Android Auto allow you to stay focused on the road while having access to a variety of smartphone apps.
ANDROID AUTO is a phone interface that brings the key features of your Android smartphone to your Kia.
This is also known as PHONE PROJECTION, which means the screen on your Kia is basically mirroring the screen on your smartphone, displaying the compatible apps.
Android Auto gives you access to navigation, music, the phone’s dial pad, and much more.
Start by downloading the Android Auto app on your smartphone from the Play store.
Open the ANDROID AUTO app and proceed with the on-screen instructions to complete the setup on your mobile device.
In your Kia, from the infotainment system Home screen, swipe left to ALL MENUS…
Select PHONE PROJECTION…
On the pop-up window, select SETTINGS…
ANDROID AUTO…
And then select ENABLE ANDROID AUTO and follow the prompts.
Connect the Android smartphone to the USB data port using the manufacturer’s supplied cable.
If the phone is locked, unlock it, and then consent to use Android Auto.
When the connection is made for the first time, the infotainment system screen displays a notification window.
Check the details and then select OK.
To end Android Auto, disconnect the USB cable from the smartphone.
Once connected, from the infotainment system Home screen, swipe left to ALL MENUS…
Then select ANDROID AUTO and Android Auto will display on the screen.
On the Android Auto Home screen, you’ll see a map showing your current location and your common apps like Map, Music, Phone, Notifications, and the microphone for Google Assistant.
The microphone button is where you can get assistance from Google, make a call, or send a message.
The apps here will change and list your most recently used apps.
Select the menu button to display available apps, like Podcast, Calendar, or Spotify and many more.
On the right side will be your music app. You can touch the MAP button to view full screen, and touch it again to view the split screen.
Swipe left to view your music playlist.
On the MAP there is a SETTINGS button where you can turn on and off traffic display…
Turn on and off satellite…
Mute or unmute the Guidance Audio…
Or view Route Options.
Again, press the MENU button to access other apps you want to use.
Now let’s review some best practices:
Make sure your Android phone is running the 8.0 Oreo operating system, or newer.
Make sure you have the latest versions of apps on your phone.
Use your phone manufacturer’s USB cable.
And adjust your phone’s navigation settings to ensure optimal performance.
