Lisa Marie Recipes returns with a unique and delicious cocktail recipe that combines Lillet Blanc, Aperol, and Somersby Cider into a drink they call "The Verve".
To create this particularly tasty concoction you will need to start with a good sized glass. In this video they have gone with a glass mug, really though, as with all drinks, it's a matter of personal preference. Fill your glass with fresh ice, cubes are preferential to crushed ice for this recipe as the crushed ice tends to melt quicker and can water down the flavor.
Your next step will be to add a fair amount of Lillet Blanc, again this has a lot to do with personal preference. In the 20s and 30s, Lillet was served only on special occasions, quickly becoming the star aperitif worldwide. Lillet’s first major advertising campaign, launched in 1937 is still spoken of highly by marketers in the USA and France to this very day. After the Second World War, the company narrowed its focus on exporting the brand directly to the US market and in no time at all Lillet became the drink of choice at every trendy New York bar. It is rare to walk into a bar and not see Lillet on the shelf, it is truly unique in it's flavor and a fantastic choice for this drink.
After you have added the Lillet Blanc pour in a fair amount of Liqueur de Gingembre. Liqueur de Gingembre is an unparalelled ginger liqueur bursting with flavour. This liqueur is made by taking whole fruits, herbs and nuts, and then mashing them in alcohol before sweetening the mixture with natural sugar. This is a classic technique yielding results that are incredibly fresh and aromatic. This Liqueur is not only complimentary to the Lillet Blanc we poured in earlier, but is also a perfect fit with our next ingredient, Aperol.
If you have watched any of the other Lisa Marie Cocktail Recipes you will see a pattern regarding the use of Aperol. Aperol is a bright orange aperitif that is made from a recipe the company has managed to keep a secret since it's inception, and has in fact never altered it. This aperitif features infusions of both bitter and sweet oranges as well as a variety of other herbs and roots. You will want to add a generous amount of Aperol to the mixture.
Your next ingredient, and a crucial one in attaining the flavor that makes this drink the star of the show, is Apple Cider Bitters. In this video they have chosen to use Brooklyn Hemisperical Bitters, however feel free to use the bitters of your choice. You are going to add about a tsp of bitters to the drink, be careful not to add too much as the bitters are generally quite strong. Your last ingredient is the highly regarded Somersby Cider. Simply crack open a can and fill your cup up the rest of the way. Stir this all together and top it off with a bit of Apple.
