In 2013, the TomKat Center launched the Innovation Transfer Program (ITP) to help Stanford University faculty, staff, and students turn innovations in sustainability into commercial products. Since then, over $6 million has been awarded to more than 100 teams, mostly students, to determine the commercial viability of their proposed products and services.
To mark the ITP’s 10-year anniversary, Chris Hopper (Stanford MBA ’13) explains how a 2013 TomKat Innovation Transfer grant helped jumpstart his company, Aurora Solar, a leading maker of solar installation software now valued at $4 billion.
