“I am happy to share with you the speech of H.E. Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow, The First Lady of of The Gambia and ambassador of Merck more than a Mother at Merck Foundation First Ladies Initiative VC Summit 2020.
She emphasized, “We welcome the Merck Foundation programs in The Gambia which strongly focus on building our healthcare capacity and train our healthcare providers at all levels, even before coronavirus started, we started these programs since 2018 and in very short time we made a significant impact.
I have hosted Merck foundation CEO and we launched together our long term partnership to build healthcare capacity in the fields of Diabetes, Cancer , Fertility , embryology , Diabetes, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Respiratory medicines, Acute Medicines, and Sexual and Reproductive medicines for the next 10 years which I follow up myself with Dr. Rasha Kelej to ensure the significant impact on our future experts in healthcare and to be able to change the landscape of our healthcare sector in The Gambia.”
“ I am proud of our partnership with the First Lady of Gambia, H.E. Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow. We are proud to make history together by providing specialty training for the first Fertility, Embryologists, oncologists and diabetes specialists in the country. This is a huge achievement: we do not take it lightly. It is history in the making.

Dr. Fatoumatta Jaiteh has completed the Surgical Oncology One-year Merck Foundation Oncology Fellowship Program in India.
6 Gambian Doctors have successfully completed Fertility training program in India. Out of this, one Doctor has been further enrolled to the One year Online Post Graduate Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Medicine.
