It had been proven that by Jesus' time ancient form "Yehoshua" (name that got popular in modern Israel) went out of use already - Yeshua form was widely used instead. Its very close to modern American name Joshua. In most languages its spelled however as Jesus, Isus, Jezus etc. - all coming from Greek form "Isous". Greek doesnt have "sh" sound, thats why they had to write it with "s" instead of original Hebrew "sh".
