If you think bees just make honey, you have to see this! You'll be surprised by what you discover! Did you know that most bees have hairy, short, and chubby bodies? They have six legs, and their body is divided into three parts: head, thorax, and abdomen. Oh, and they fly at about 12 miles per hour, making that characteristic buzzing sound.
Bees can see colors that we can't, like ultraviolet light, and they have five eyes! Female bees can sting, but males don't have a stinger and can't sting. Fun fact: worker bees can only sting once before they die because their stinger gets stuck in the victim's skin. However, other bee species, such as solitary bees and many stingless bee species, can sting multiple times without dying, as their stinger doesn't have barbs that get stuck in the victim's skin.
From giant carpenter bees to tiny mosquito bees, they come in all sizes and colors. And they are incredible nest builders, whether solitary, in social groups, or even as parasites! Bees are also fantastic dancers, they communicate through special "waggle dances" to find food. They are crucial pollinators, as they help plants produce fruits and seeds.
So, next time you see a bee, remember they're not just making honey. They're making our world bloom!
