The Teachers College Reading and Writing Project is a research think tank and staff development organization housed at Teachers College, Columbia University. Led by Lucy Calkins, the Robinson Professor in Children's Literature at Teachers College, the TCRWP has been a leading force in literacy for over 30 years. By developing curriculum and performance assessments, and by working shoulder-to-shoulder with students, teachers, principals, and superintendents, the TCRWP has helped hundreds of thousands of schools to provide more rigorous and joyful reading and writing instruction. The Project works closely with schools in 23 countries, in all parts of the US, and especially in New York City. Hundreds of thousands of teachers have attended one of the seven institutes the TCRWP leads each year at Teachers College, Columbia University.
