Imagine being forced to marry at the age of 12. Or having your body mutilated to symbolise you’ve come of age. Or being sexually assaulted and people saying it’s normal.

That’s what Azeb and other girls in her community have to face each day but she is trying to change this. As a World Vision sponsored child, Azeb is educated and aware of her rights. She speaks up about gender-based violence at her community’s child parliament and encourages other girls to do the same.

“If we collaborate with girls to realise their rights, there will be no reason why we couldn’t create a world free of violence.”
