The Toyota Glanza is the Baleno from Toyota, which means it is built on the Heartect platform. Here are three things to keep in mind:
First, The first generation of the Baleno scored zero stars iin ythe Global NCAP crash tests. Global NCAP hasn’t crash tested the new car yet. But, it has cleared the 55kmph crash test norms set by the Indian government.
Second, the new gen Baleno and the Glanza are sitting on an updated platform that uses more high strength materials – as a result the car is heavier than before – overall - 100kgs more than before. Also to change the perception of poor quality and safety the sheet metal has been made more sturdy. But, this doesn’t impact safety – not on this – or any car.
Third, the technology the Glanza it has ESP and ISOFIX mounts for child seats as standard. Which wil lhelp it score better in crash test results too. The car is also offered with six airbags in the top two variants. Which is a very sensible call.
