Yu Yevon is defeated, Sin is vanquished, and Spira is finally freed from the cycle of death. We have given them an Eternal Calm. Many people have been lost and our dreams faded, but we'll never forget them.
I thought there wouldn't be a Final Fantasy that I could truly call my favorite Final Fantasy... till now. I played this game so many times when I had it on PS2, but playing this version felt like I was playing it for the first time again. And I truly loved it.
The gameplay is very fun. I like turn based battle systems when there fast paced and have clever gameplay mechanics and this Final Fantasy nailed it. The international abilities and expert grid are awesome! It really changed up how I used to play 10 when I had the PS2 version. It was a blast to fight every random encounter, and the bosses were epic to fight. But I wish the extra fights were more flexible.
The side quests, mini games, and bonus areas were pretty fun to play and explore. I loved the chocobo missions. The omega ruins was pretty challenging to explore and the butterfly hunt and thunder dodging game wasn't as bad as I thought it was. Im still burnt out on Blitzball though, lol. Darn you, Wakka.
I forgot how moving and memorable the story was. Even though it was about a world ravage by Sin, it still had moments of joy, laughter, and romance. So it was never too depressing. I loved the Weeding, the macalania kiss, and the fight against Sin on the airship moments. Those were very memorable. The characters were also just as memorable as the story.
The soundtrack in the PS2 version is great. But the one thing I appreciate the most about this game is the remastered soundtrack. Most of the songs are hit and miss, but there are many re arranged songs that I absolutely loved. Music like enemy attack, assault, and Summoned Beast Battle were incredible. Thank you, square enix!
