This video gives a glimpse of Restoration England through Samuel Pepys diary. Diary is a literary form that emerged in the second half of the 17th century and Samuel Pepys is considered as the greatest dramatist in English language. Pepys recorded important historical events in his diary which included the coronation of Charles II, the Great plague of London and the Great fire of London. Pepys made his first diary entry in 1660 and continued till 1669. A decade long historical happenings in England were chronicled in The Diary of Samuel Pepys.
