A pair of McDonnel Douglas F-15E Strike Eagles from the United States Air Force 48th Fighter Wing, also known as 'The Liberty Wing', based at RAF Lakenheath, conduct a flypast at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford during 'The Americans' Flying Day on Friday 28 July 2023.
The aircraft are both part of the 492nd Fighter Squadron, which is nicknamed both 'The Bolars' and 'The Madhatters' and are both F-15E-51-MC models. The first is serial 91-0308 (MSN 1215/E173), using callsign 'Sniper 41' and the second, 98-0134 (MSN 1363/E225) using 'Sniper 42'.
On 4 August 2023 F-15E 91-0308 became the first became the first F-15 of any variant to complete 10,000 flying hours at RAF Lakenheath. Also of note is that this aircraft suffered Class A damage due to an engine fire whilst on a sortie from RAF Lakenheath on 12 Feb 2002.
