A Golden dragon dance or Kinryu-no-Mai is performed at the Sensoji Temple in Asakusa on March 18, 2016, Tokyo, Japan. The annual festival celebrates the founding of Sensoji temple; which is also known as Kinryu-zan, literally Golden Dragon Mountain. According to legend, when the temple was founded a golden dragon descended from the sky creating a grove of 1,000 pines near the temple on the 18th day. The dragon used in the dance is 88kg and 18m in length and is operated by 8-people. Local elementary school children also participate in the ceremony which attracts many visitors to the temple.
