With Need for Speed Heat on the horizon I decided to do a quick revisit of the 21 previous NFS games leading up to the launch of Heat. Here you can see Need for Speed 9 (Most Wanted), which was released in 2005 for various platforms. In this game I recorded a fast race on NFS World Loop with the Porsche Carrera GT.
NFS Most Wanted combined the tuner cars from the Underground games with exotics and others to create a diverse lineup of cars. It also brought back police, while still having a big city with free roam, this time during the day. Many people view NFS MW as the best NFS game of all time and it is one of my favorites as well.
The game didn't have Drift events anymore but instead we got Speedtrap events for the first time. We also now had nitrous that would automatically recharge over time.
Like all 21 main NFS games Need for Speed Most Wanted can be played on a modern PC with Windows 10 and there is also a widescreen mod for it. And since the game has a LAN mode it is also still possible to play it online with the help of third party tools like GameRanger.
NFS MW is the first game that I ever got pretty well known in and until this day I am using its artwork as my profile picture. I played the game competitively for multiple years with decent success in both Circuit and Sprint.
NFS World Loop is the longest track in the game, as a sprint track around the whole map. My record time here is a 5:02, which I set almost 10 years ago and recorded on video as well. One day I still want to break the magic 5 minute mark on this track but this would require many hours or even days of practice, so it's not something that I could do for this particular series. Here I just went for a time under 5:10, which I was able to achieve rather quickly.
One thing that is pretty cool in this game is the fact that there isn't just one car that is the best on every track but instead there are 2 best cars with the Porsche Carrera GT and the Lotus Elise. On some tracks the Porsche is faster and on some tracks the Lotus.
I will attempt to show you all 21 existing NFS games before the release of Heat, so expect to see a video almost every day from now until the release of Heat and on some days even two. :)
