#camino #caminoprimitivo
In July I walked the 320km Camino Primitivo, from Oviedo to Santiago de Compostella. It's an absolutely beautiful Camino, and, because it's in the mountains, a wonderful summer route! While other Pilgrims were sweltering on the Frances or the Portuguese Camino's, we generally had highs of around 25 - 28 degrees.
Whilst it's classed as one of the harder camino's, it's very doable by most (including first time pilgrims) especially with a little training beforehand. I started off injured, with a VERY sore leg, which gradually improved as my Camino progressed. I took a rest day in Lugo, because 1/ why not and 2/ it's a beautiful city, with lot's to see and do.
Because I like solitude at times, I also took the Camino Verde, an unofficial variant from Lugo that cuts across to the Norte.
Day 1: Arrival; Oviedo to Grado, 25km .
