I was hearing a knocking sound coming from my engine. I feared the worst and tore into the engine thinking it was the timing chain getting ready to give out. Once in there, I found that everything seemed ok. No obvious wear, nothing seemingly broken. When I removed the tensioner I wiggled the rear guide and noticed this sound which is a LOT like what I had been hearing when the engine was running. My theory is that the tensioner was failing and the guide was slapping the chain, causing the noise.
