Psalm 86.1-10, Romans 6.1-11
Our New Testament Lectionary Reading today places before us the conclusion that should be drawn from what goes before out text. It does so by placing before us the rhetorical question, “Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?” This is a vital questions because it is a question that should rise in our minds if we have a proper grasp of the amazing truth of the gospel. If you’ve never been tempted to think this way it is most likely true that you’ve never grasped the magnitude of the gospel. But, of course, it is the gospel that moves us to struggle against sin and to gives us power to live the new life we have in Christ. This is the conclusion Paul brings home to our hearts!
