AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi claims bullets were fired at his car on his way back to Delhi from Meerut in UP. No one was injured but his car tyres were punctured, he said.
"We are all safe. Alhamdu'lilah," he wrote.
The incident occurred near Delhi in Hapur, western Uttar Pradesh. The shooters abandoned their firearms and fled. "I was leaving for Delhi after a poll event in Kithaur, Meerut. Three to four rounds of bullets were fired upon my vehicle by two people near Chhajarsi toll plaza; there were a total of 3-4 people," Mr Owaisi said.
"Tyres of my vehicle (in pic) punctured, I left on another vehicle," he wrote.
Mr Owaisi's tweets from the toll plaza revealed two gunshot holes in his white SUV. 3rd bullet apparently struck the tyre. The MP departed in a different automobile.
The AIMIM leader spoke at a public gathering in Meerut on February 10th, ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections. Western Uttar Pradesh will vote on the first day of the seven-phase election.
