The government of Uganda is spending UGX 1.1 trillion to revamp the dilapidated meter gauge Railways. The renovations are currently underway between Malaba and Kampala and are expected to be completed by November this year. The government is also planning to construct the Kampala - Kasese line to standard gauge railway standard at a cost of UGX 3 trillion.
